We are waiting for a new adaptation of tales by Roald Dahl

Lovers of fairy tales, start to dance: broadcaster Netflix has signed a contract with The Roald Dahl Story Company. Next year work will begin on the film adaptation of the famous fairy tales by Roald Dahl.

“Charlie and the chocolate factory”, “Big friendly giant”, “Matilda”, “the Magic medicine George” and other stories will turn into a colourful animated series. Tales of Roald Dahl repeatedly became a basis of the brilliant film adaptations and theatre productions, but such a large-scale entertainment fate awaits them for the first time.

The writer’s widow felicity Dahl said: “Our mission is to ensure that as many children as possible around the world met with the magic and joy that I give tales of Roald Dahl. Collaboration with Netflix will be a giant step towards this task. Sure, the Roald would have been delighted.”

The first cartoon will end in 2019, so now is the time to re-read favorite stories children’s writer and review a couple of adaptations – for example, “Charlie and the chocolate factory” (2005) with johnny Depp in the lead role or the recent film adaptation of “Big friendly giant” (2016).
