12 November in Saint-Petersburg starts TurgenevFEST, who will attend the University theatres from different corners of the world – Stanford, Siena, Seoul and other cities. On 16 November inclusive theater troupe will present their vision of the classic works of Turgenev on the Small stage of the Bolshoi drama theatre named Tovstonogov. Here you can see kinetic theatre performances, and “the noble nest”, transcribed in Korean reality.
The organizer of the festival, the head of the strategic projects of the alumni Association of the St. Petersburg state University Maxim Filelevel it was said: “TurgenevFEST is the ability to see the interpretation of Russian classics by the representatives of different cultures.”
The main feature of the festival is its multilingualism, since performances can be viewed in Russian, English and Italian. All performances will be accompanied by interpreters from the partner theater forum – EGO translating Company. This will provide an opportunity for the audience to hear Turgenev’s texts in a new way.
During TurgenevFEST among the theatres-participants will be selected the best, it’s the jury that will evaluate all the performances. It consists of the General Director of the State Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky, the honoured artist of Russia Anna Kovalchuk, Director of the St. Petersburg Museum of theatrical and musical art Natalia Metelitsa, writer and associate Professor, SPSU Andrei Astvatsaturov, editor-in-chief of “Petersburg theatre magazine” Marina Dmitrevskaya and composer and teacher of St. Petersburg state University Vladimir Rannev.
During the forum also will host the project “Online festival”, where you can watch the animated series “the ABCs of Turgenev”, and a series of interviews with famous writers, historians and artists about creativity, and relevance of the works of Ivan Turgenev.
