SAINT PETERSBURG, November 22. The first lifetime edition of Alexander Pushkin’s poem “Poltava” was put up for auction in St. Petersburg. “Our December auction will feature the first edition of the poem, which Pushkin called “the most Mature of all my poetic novels”. Estimated value of the publication, released in March, 1829, and issued a circulation of 1.2 million copies, is from 600 to 650 thousand rubles. “Such publications are the Foundation of Russian bibliophilia. At all times they were the most desirable object of book collecting”, – consider organizers of the auction.
