Dmitry Medvedev advised the Chinese to read the classics of Russian literature

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev held in Shanghai online conference with local Internet user to experience Russia, it is recommended to read the works of Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov, Ivan Bunin, Alexander Kuprin. The meeting was organized by Shanghai media group – “Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group”.

The head of the Russian government visited the people’s Republic of China on an official visit, at the conference they noted enormous interest of the Chinese to the Russian culture and Russian language.

When the Russian premiere of the Chinese Internet user with the nickname “the Quiet don” has asked Council to recommend mandatory order of Russian works, Medvedev said: “I would advise myself to read “Quiet flows the don”, if it (the book – approx. ed.) have not yet read”.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Russia added: “But, of course, the Russian classical literature occupies a special place in the Treasury of human thought. I mean, and the works of Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Bunin, Kuprin. Any of the works so far, in my opinion, is not just relevant, but represents a masterpiece of human thought”.

Medvedev also said that sometimes reading works of modern literature, recognizing that finds them “very interesting”.
