Vyacheslav Kondratyev was born 30 October 1920, he is the author of many widely known works. Veteran writer embarked on a literary path rather late – at age 59. Its been a long time tormented by memories of war, forcing us to examine the “trench” prose, but read it and could not find “his war”. Then I decided to write about her. To achieve the effect of the presence of Kondratiev managed thanks to the memories of the battles for the Rzhev.
Creative way Kondratyev began with the novel “Sashka”, published in the journal “Friendship of peoples” in 1979. This is a true and touching story about the life of the ordinary soldier, the main tenet of which is “Humanity in war”. Critics and readers were impressed by the style of narration of the author, his frightening ability to accurately convey the emotional state of the person at the front. “I was writing without an inner editor, not really hoping for publication,” said Kondratev.
The prototype of the hero of the story “Sasha” is a 17-year-old Alexander Kapustin, a brave scout, was awarded the medal “For courage” after January 26, 1943, he attacked a machine-gun of the enemy and captured a German corporal. A few months later, on 4 September 1943, a young soldier died heroically in battle. He was buried in a mass grave of the village of Red Wedge Kholmsky district, Novgorod region.
The action of the novel takes place in the spring of 1942. Soldiers named Sasha during a RAID of the enemy scouts, showing fearlessness and wit, with his bare hands, taking one of them prisoner. The main character is under the threat of the Tribunal, and possibly death, stepped over his principles and shot unarmed Germans on the orders of the battalion commander. He understood that before him the same as he soldiers, only fooled by the fascist regime. In the story the main hero is not just shows humanity, acting according to his inner beliefs helps wounded Germans, although himself bleeding to death, takes on the guilt of the Lieutenant in front of the major, because she knows that with a simple soldier demand less.
In may 1982 on the screens of the country came the film Alexander Surin “Sasha” based on the book by Vyacheslav Kondratyev. It is tightly cemented in the public mind the image of the cheerful, brave, daring, but at the same time very humane Soviet soldier. “Sasha” is one of the most powerful films about the war.
In a further special influence on the work of Kondratieff have had a correspondence with the veteran of the great Patriotic war, Evgeny Ilyich Prigogine. The communication began with letters of gratitude, which Prigogine admired the work of the writer.
“My favorite “Lieutenant prose”, You especially highlights the degree of psychological truth, its angle of view. The level of the artist determined by the proximity to the reader, when thoughts and feelings of their own look,” wrote a veteran.
Perhaps one of the reasons for the spiritual closeness of the two soldiers was a common front – both fought at Rzhev. On the Rzhev battle, and then wrote and told reluctantly because of the huge losses by the red Army. Historical records say about the many thousands of victims over 14 months of fighting.
In 1991, the world beyond the story “to Atone for the blood”, where Prigogine becomes the company commander for soldiers hero, time gave the order to retreat and preserve their lives, and for the bosses – a traitor, who passed the milestone.
History, forming the basis for the story on the assault on the village Ovsyannikovo. To dislodge German troops from the village the soldiers of the red Army tried unsuccessfully for several months. In the end it was done, but with heavy losses, as the soldiers had to operate without adequate fire and artillery support. The work laid bare the problem of choice and responsibility for the decision.
In the letters of Yevgeny Ilyich Prigogine stood apart the psychology of a warrior and courage as a social phenomenon. Prigogine went to the front a Mature 30-year-old man and because of life experience can more deeply and thoroughly analyze what is happening. Before the war he worked as an engineer of mines in the Urals and left there as a volunteer. “Remember on the way to the station the eye of the comrade searching for me. They read the pain, if I commit suicide. Later, I was happy I didn’t have to sit in the rear, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to respect himself”, – shared memories Prigogine.
Yevgeny Ilyich rose to the rank of captain, was awarded the medal “For courage”, and in 1943 he was wounded and returned home a man on crutches stepped into the position of Deputy chief engineer of the mine. After six months, he was already head.
Eugene Prigogine shared with Kondratiev thoughts and feelings about the real and on-screen heroism: “war veterans Rob, attributing their feats on-screen heroes with superpowers. In this war volunteered two million people, rightly convinced that without them not to win. Winning the war is not over-people, and our Victory is the heritage of all the people, not individuals”, he wrote.
The idea that wars are won by ordinary people, Kondratieff traced in the works of the collection “Stories. 1941-1942”, which included “Selizharovsky tract”, “Bathe in blood” and “Sasha”.
In the works of Kondratieff heroes stand in the way of ordinary people, got to the front and realized that the war in theory is very different from war in practice. Ammunition and not enough food, and people are afraid of death, and instinctively seek to save their lives. But even in such circumstances, it was a place for heroism and true heroism.
