And more than a century lasted the night…

And more than a century lasted a day. All was still – though not in the edition “Russian newspaper”, and somewhere on the distant “drill stop”. Sank, swam. People’s artist of Russia Alexei Guskov reads a fragment from the main novel by Chingiz Aitmatov – the fate of little people who are woven into the story as much, if not space. Reads a scary legend about the mankurt. The word has long been a household: everything you know is a living being, devoid of memory, fate and will. No longer a man. Maybe the main problem, the disease, the threat to humanity. Know all all read. But still – in the hall listening, shivered.

Alexei Guskov opened in the media center of “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” gala evening dedicated to Chingiz Aitmatov. The writer is as Kyrgyz as Russian – no exaggeration. Writing in the Russian language, absorbed what constitutes a “global responsiveness” of Russian literature.

The hall is crowded. The eminent guests. What is the phenomenon of the great writer? Why do we continue to read it, even being in another world – where the word “barbarism” has become commonplace? As one of the leading evening, we say Aitmatov – mean synthesis and harmony. Aitmatov tried to find a middle way between Imperial and national identity. Explore the creativity of the writer – how to explore the universe.

Among the latest news – Chinghiz Aitmatov was the third among the writers of all Nations and times, the number of translations into foreign languages. After Shakespeare and Leo Tolstoy. It was translated in 157 countries. The figure is significant.

Only educated, cultured people can create a real future: they understand what the real past

The conversation continued, the special representative of the President of Russia for international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi – he, incidentally, he was born sometime in Kyrgyzstan. Once Aitmatov wrote: if you want to see the third Millennium, just look at yourself in the mirror. You realize that time is changing just like people. Aitmatov was well aware of how volatile the time and how internally we are faced every time with the conservatism of human life. For us, it is unfortunate, as many thought, but happiness. Because on the vast expanses of the Soviet space people lived, who, having certain conditions of social life, internally maintained and very important human quality. Which are then allowed to settle easier in a new time.

Chingiz Aitmatov was a man open to the world. He was a man who sought to reconcile the internal contradiction between the forest and steppe. If Olzhas Suleimenov, a prominent Kazakh poet, is a hidden contradiction was crucial as a contradiction, for Aitmatov it was important to find harmony. In search of an answer: what is the space in which we live? Olzhas did a great thing by writing the book “AZ and me”. But no less a great thing to do Aitmatov, writing one of the most important novels of the Soviet era – “Drill stop”.

The language of the people – is the memory of the people, and the highest value. When we take up the book Aitmatov, we understand that he learned not only the tradition of “Manas”, but the tradition of Tolstoy. With all these long words, that he is not afraid to prolong and prolong, complicating details understanding of the world.

It is very important that he was a representative of Kyrgyzstan to UNESCO. Of course, the writer tried to prove to everyone that only educated, cultured people can create a real future: they understand what the real past. Like any writer, established in the Soviet era, the fracture time and the disintegration of the country has been a period extremely difficult. He understood that the writer is pain. Pain people, pain time. But the writer needs to bring to the world at least a taste of harmony.

Motor and magnet Aitmatova of the evening was the first President of the Kyrgyz Republic Askar Akayev. He talked very warmly with Chingiz Aitmatov and told about how Chingiz Aitmatov almost gave a Nobel prize. The writer was certainly worthy of it. What happens, in the end, the trouble is small: Leo Tolstoy is also the award was not given. But the story of how Askar Akaev and Chinghiz Aitmatov took the Swedish king, exciting himself.

Swedish academics had a discussion over two and a half hours. And in the evening the three of us, the writer and I am his wife – said Akayev, – stand, waiting for an audience with the king Carl XVI Gustaf. We strongly warn that the Protocol we have half an hour and not a minute more. The king is not a Swedish academic, not a reader, so half an hour of literary talk, it is quite enough. But we learned and more. King is a great lover of nature, it is concerned with environmental issues. And here we have had a talk with the king about the mythology, about the natural world that nourishes the creativity of Chingiz Aitmatov. About the wolf Akbar, the Pacer gyulsary, Tanabai magnificent camel. And Aitmatov was still a wonderful story on the subject of “oslobodenje”: how do donkeys have influenced the development of science and culture in the Renaissance. The subject he was listening to back in zootechnique before admission to the agricultural Institute… the King is so captivated that he began to ask questions, to suggest how better to portray the nature of the following works. For a long time and regretted that he was not an academician and does not have voting rights in the distribution of prizes. In General, instead of half an hour spent more than three hours… Alas, Aitmatov did not wait for his Nobel prize. If he had lived another ten years… Sorry for all of us, his readers.

About Chingiz Aitmatov the said writer Sergei Shargunov, and the rector of the Institute of Literature Alexey Varlamov. By the way, Varlamov remembered how in my childhood I visited Artek, and I met a boy who played in the movie based on the novel by Aitmatov’s “White ship”.

– A very important feature in the biography of Aitmatov – said Varlamov is that his father was arrested. I wrote a book about Shukshin, whose fate is also very important is the fact that his father was shot. The tragedy of fatherlessness – the same can be said about Alexander Vampilov, about Yuri Trifonov, about the many writers who grew up without fathers. But she, like Aitmatov, the attitude towards the Soviet regime was difficult. Because this government took away their most precious taken away my father, but she gave a lot. And Shukshin, Aitmatov and she gave education and many opportunities, and they saw it. Government is only evil carried, but also much given everything. And education, and medicine – they all knew it, saw it. I think it is very important to understand this when we shied away toward the Soviet past, and we are either ready to curse him and to throw it away, or say how beautiful she was, and repression – it’s all true. It is the biography, creativity Aitmatov is the best proof of the complexity, contradictions of the era from which we all came. And he just knew it, and thought about it. His “Drill stop” – an incredibly poignant and touching. And he was an amazing novel, one of the last – “Cassandra’s Brand”. It’s a changed world. And this is a novel that takes place in different countries and continents. There is a fantastic line – and the Pope and the astronauts-the defectors – it was a novel warning, very apocalyptic. And very in tune to when released the novel by Anatoly Kim “Online”, “Pyramid” – which half a century wrote Leonid Leonov. He clearly wanted to be heard, – said Alexey Varlamov, and he clearly had something to say, and we thankful for it.

The rector of literary Institute brought for the evening and showed the documents of the applicant, student of Chingiz Aitmatov since his study at the Literature Institute.

Presented a new book about Aitmatov, published in the series ZHZL of the publishing house “Young guard”. There were a lot of movies – from movies and plays based on Aitmatov. Sang the soloist of theatre of Opera and ballet Abdylas Maldybaev Diamond Atambaev, character monologue “mother’s field” was performed by actress Zhanyl Asanbekova and other Kyrgyz guests. One of his most heartfelt speeches were said by the son of writer – Sanjar Aitmatov.
